Strawberry Fields Forever

Why hello there! I havent posted anything in a while. so i thought i would do it now!

Update:

1).
Currently, this week is kind of an exam week and ive got a lot to study so far... such as Biology and some math for 2 math classes. Yes. You heard(read, depending on your preference) it right. I am taking 2 frickin math classes. Math 1050 and 1060. 1060 is new to me and its pretty interesting i have to admit. 1050 is a pain in my you know where... but ill get through it.

2).
I am currently planning on filming a music video for spring break! Cha man! its gonna be pretty awesome. I have to admit, its gonna rock your socks once you see it. Ill probably be screening it the Monday after USU's spring break somewhere.

Little spoiler: i shall be using cardboard instruments. Just to get you thinking of what might happen.

3).
This Friday is gonna be a super exciting and probably nervous day. I will be attending my Dorm Halls Speak-easy dance/mock-tail party along with competing in a billiards tournament. Ive been training for the  longest time to compete in this tournament. I hope to take the competition and win, but im also looking for a great time. Wish me luck!

4).
One of my best friends is now out in the field for his mission. He is currently located in Berlin, Germany. I wish him the best of luck, and i need to respond to his letter and email soon. I know he'll do his family, and our group of friends great and amazing things! I hope he is doing good!

One For The Money.

SO.... a few days ago i was surprised to know that my two best friends were coming to Logan to visit. and so a night of epic portions begins. It was friday. Just another ordinary day in Logan, Utah. But it wasnt, Little did Logan, Utah know that three guys would change everything ever known to man in this little city.

Okay maybe it wasnt that epic....

But it was pretty nice to have the boys in town for a little fun and games.

It all started out with them arriving and me hunting them down, because apparently Utah State is a hard place to find. I had to longboard down to a parking lot to find them. I ran all the way to the top and rode my board all the way down (which was WAY awesome!) just to figure out that i was at the wrong parking lot.... Oh well!

From there, we continued our way to Angies where we ate a TON of food... like 2 whole meals infused with fat... First we had a normal dinner, i had like half a burger and was full. After that we all waited like 30 minutes for James sister to show up where me, Mark, and James cleaned the sink....

For all of you who dont know what Cleaning The Sink means, its like hell... especially if you had like 3 meals of food beforehand. Its this:

Yes that is a sink. Yes that is a butt load of ice cream in it. Hence, cleaning the sink. It was fun! 

Next, we payed a visit to one of our friends that lives in Bullen hall. And we decided to pull a little prank on her. Ya know, about 20-30 postit notes of one drawing on her door and then knocking about 4 times to piss her off is normal around here. We then stayed at her place for a bit to talk until 2 am which was a nice recap and catch up.

The Breakdown

So i decided to show you a little of what i can do. Its nothing special. But i take pride in what i create within video editing and compositing. So i composited some elements of an explosion within a desert using one stock photo and some pre-keyed footage. Here i breakdown the process a little bit:

So here we have a simple explosion. Nothing too special. Didnt add any special elements because i was kind of rushing this (Which you should never do people! Dont rush it unless you really have to! Grade A quality is better than and F.).

First, you start out with a blank stock footage of a random or your chosen picture that you want to composite. I chose this lovely desert.

Next you composite in an nice firey explosion of your choosing. I set the transfer mode to Add to bring out some light and bright colors in the explosion.

Next i added a bunch of dirt hits and some sand explosions to basically simulate that it ACTUALLY exploded in the middle of the desert.

More dust elements:

Here, you can kind of see the blackish/brown smoke mixed within the fire. That kind of makes it a little more realistic and sets a good tone to the fire since it mixes well.

Lastly, i added a dust wave that hits the camera once it explodes outward to simulate and show that it was a huge explosion and to add in a bit of some ambient elements. 

There you have it! A nice little explosion! You can go a bit more advanced and spend a little more time on this than i did by keying out the sky and maybe put in some footage of sky/cloud movement. You could also add more explosions or mess around with particle effects and generate a missile striking where it explodes. You could add some camera shake to bring out the life of the video to make it a tad bit more realistic. Messing around with the color correction would be a plus as well, i did a bit of it here but i dunno if i did a good job or not. But here you have it! A nice explosion! 

Let me know what you think or even repost your own explosion to show me up! i encourage you! Other than that, i plan to do different types of videos from now on other than explosions and gun muzzle flares and shots (not before i post a muzzle flare breakdown though...). So look for that stuff!

So im getting the hang of all of this. I finally got my background design up and the colors just the way i like them. Yes, i am very picky when it comes to color. No, i will not stop changing it. But Yeah! Now it is finished, time to fill this blog up with posts! Hopefully i keep you guys up to date on stuff. In the mean time, have a wonderful week!

Well here it is. I just got started on this little blog here. Im trying to work on the design of it. I want something that will express my personality and the action of my style of video production.
